The Law of Attraction:

Image
The law of attraction simply states: we attract what we think about, good or bad. There has been debate over this theory for a few centuries.   It is not easily testable because it is subjective by nature. But consider this: You were talking to someone and they brought up chocolate cake. Since the discussion you have been craving a piece of chocolate cake. If the only thing you truly want to do today has now become finding an amazing piece of chocolate cake, you will likely have a piece by the end of the day. That is a thought becoming a reality. Not everyone’s reality, but your reality.    It begins with the thought that you want a piece of cake. And before you know it, you are thinking: I need a piece of cake.   Once a want becomes a need , the law of attraction is a testable law for you . It still may not be practical or testable for everyone but for you it is.    When we convince ourselves we need something we have a m...

Value-based motives:

Having value behind your motives means doing groundwork. Literally. Groundwork on yourself. Motives are the seeds we sew in hope of reaping our future success. The value behind your motives determines what kind of success you can expect to reap. People can have success with bad motives. Happens all the time. But true sustainable success almost always comes from honesty and wanting to do right by other people. You cant cut many corners when you start from this place. It is going to be hard work. But it will be good work too. Rewarding work. The kind of work people will refer their friends to. The kind of work that is hard to retire from. Not because eventually you wont be ready to retire (because you will be). It is just that when you begin with value at your core, it ends up reaching the core of many other people. Spiraling, spreading and reaching in every direction. You will be ready to retire if you live a life like this. The problem will be every...

“One of those days”

When you stumble in public and then you get back to the car, still red from embarrassment and the keys are laughing at you behind 4 locked doors... When you can’t remember someone’s name and they even had a nametag on, waiting there to save you…if you had only looked down… When you tell your child they are going to be late for school, and you get to the front door only to realize it is Sunday... You do not know why it seems the universe is against you. You just know for sure… You are having one of those days From the moment you woke up you just knew this was not your day.   You think to yourself: If anything else can go wrong, it will go wrong.   Almost every person can relate to this feeling. When other people make an attempt to understand how you feel because they have felt similarly it removes your isolation. You just want someone else to understand, to listen, and be present. When someone takes the time to acknowledge your struggle it is powerful...

True Generosity

Interest is what you pay to rent money that isn’t yours. Borrowing money is seen as a win-win. You get the money you need now and the bank ends up with more money at the end of the deal for renting you their money.   With payments and money we can physically see that this system can work and be good for everyone before engaging in the deal.   Generosity is different. Generosity usually means you are willing to do something and not expect to be paid back. The good news is you can be generous without it costing money. There is generosity in listening deeply to someones concerns. There is generosity in being patient and explaining things again. Generosity shows us that it isn’t always a monetary investment that has the best return. Most of us can loan someone a dollar when we stand to earn two in return. Something phenomenal happens when you give without thinking about what you will receive in return. AG

Man’s best friend

The human brain and the brain of a dog both have the same ability to produce a chemical that bonds us across species lines forming love and attachment. Humans have this with each other too but studies show that less of the chemical is released over time between two humans, yet remains the same between a human and a dog. But why?  Communication: When it comes to communication the most important component is the act of listening. Listening not to react. Listening for the sole purpose of making a person feel like you are there attempting to connect. Dogs seem to do that so flawlessly but only up to a certain point. Dogs can't respond with words. What we need is to feel acknowledged by our own species to feel validated and understood. Acknowledged by a person. A person who is there and doing their best to understand something from your view point. Present in the moment.  Our dog may not respond with words, but he is there not interrupting us, and we can feel i...

Failure’s arch enemy...

Image
Anxiety is experiencing failure in advance. Yet, the only way we know what failure feels like is if we have experienced failure in the past. A past experience we consider a failure that left an imprint on our memory telling us:   “whatever you do, don’t let this happen again because it hurt” Where does that leave us? It leaves us with negative feelings towards tension.  Tension occurs when we are in-between movements. Questioning if we should take an action at all, or if we even can. Tension in the moment is anxiety because anxiety doesn’t tell us why we are afraid in a moment. The brain simply takes over the body, shutting it down. This means that only one thing can counteract the negative feelings we have about anxiety and tension. Action. Take action. You have to begin writing a story if you want to have any say in how the story ends. Action is to failure’s one true kryptonite. It cripples  failure because failure needs you to slow d...
