Are you impressive...?

Having an impact and being impressive are not always the same. An impact means you have had an effect. Impressive means you have evoked the admiration of someone else. The two get confused when we think what impresses one person is the same for all people. Lets use a luxury car as an example... Some people will be initially impressed if you show up in a new luxury car. They may think that because you drive an expensive car that you must be good at your job and they will benefit from the skills that allowed you to afford this vehicle. But if you show signs of lacking the skills that make sense with the story they have told themselves about you… The car has led to disappointment. Other people may think that you drive a luxury car to give the illusion that your cars value is equal to your skill set, and feel they will end up disappointed. The point—either assumption can be made about the impact of something you do intentionally to boost your image. ...
