 I have been having thoughts back to a time when I needed resources from clients. Much like you need homes(resources)in order to meet buyer demand. Anyway, I was in a different career than you and I share today(Real Estate), but back then I was trying to collect on an account that owed well over a million dollars and the account owner advised he had $27 to his name... Career Strategies: Finding your "way"

It is a personal journey. Finding a strategy we can live with. There are two schools of thought when deciding on a way to build a self-propelled career. One Way is to set easily obtainable goals. In theory , minimizing the risk of burning out and/or failing. This Way of thinking feels safe and more controlled. It is a strategy that many people feel more confident about. A strategy that means settling for less because they would be too uncomfortable going for more . Going for more "just doesn't seem responsible" in this school of thought. There is nothing wrong with wanting to feel comfortable. I just believe you are capable of so much more than what "comfortable" has to offer. Also, feeling comfortable does not always ensure safety. Having an impact and being impressive are not always the same. An impact means you have had an effect. Impressive means you have evoked the admiration of someone else. The two get confused when we think what impresses one person is the same for all people. Lets use a luxury car as an example... Some people will be initially impressed if you show up in a new luxury car. They may think that because you drive an expensive car that you must be good at your job and they will benefit from the skills that allowed you to afford this vehicle. But if you show signs of lacking the skills that make sense with the story they have told themselves about you… The car has led to disappointment. Other people may think that you drive a luxury car to give the illusion that your cars value is equal to your skill set, and feel they will end up disappointed. Verbal communication will always run the risk of being misinterpreted. Misinterpretation is an assumption by one persons attempt to make a full story out of another person’s unfinished or unheard story. The best way to prevent misinterpretation is to speak clearly and be mindful of all possible perspectives. This is the talent of all talents in Real Estate. Juggling a multitude of client perspectives without misunderstandings. Making it a point to not draw conclusions from statements that lack detail because you recognize that is what creates an assumption. Assumptions usually occur from a lack of information that we take upon ourselves to fill in with similar situations from our past. Not listening is the main cause of lacking information. Taking Initiative: Why now is always the time.

Our behavior is the physical display of our decisions. That means that all action happens twice. The first action is a thought. The second action is some outward expression of that thought. The state of mind you are in directly impacts what you will say and do. To think one thing, and do another successfully… Is not likely. Proactivity is what defines the most effective actions. Meaning: taking the initiative to “jump in” and start the process of doing first .   Take the lead because you take it upon yourself to go first. When you are a Real Estate agent you have to sometimes be the source of other peoples motivation. Your clients need and depend on it. Translated, they depend on you to keep them hopeful when they struggle to maintain hope on their own. And it is understandable due to the emotional nature of home buying and selling. However, that in no way means supporting their emotional needs is an easy endeavor. What it does means: you must have a reliable source you can tap into for staying motivated yourself. It is a challenge to be someone’s rock. To be totally in control at all times. It can be exhausting. That is why you need to really search and hold onto motivation that is renewable.
